Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. I remember last Christmas when I imagined how amazing this year would be with our new baby. I never imagined we would face so many obstacles in such a short period of time, but I knew the spirit of Christmas would somehow shadow the unknown and provide a source of calming comfort, a spirit of joy and it did exactly that.
With the Christmas tree surrounded with gifts we had stocked up on throughout the year, the stockings were hung over the quiet fireplace and while we didn’t put our Christmas Village out this year, we ensured the remaining counters, wall space and doors had some type of festive decor to enjoy.
McKenzie’s first Christmas was also the first Holiday she was well enough to visit with Family. We were blessed to have spent Christmas eve with great-grandparents, grandparents and uncles, Christmas morning was spent with us and McKenzie opening gifts from Santa and Christmas evening was spent with Grandparents, Uncles and their significant others. The night ended in a tired baby, a house full of toys and clothes, two exhausted moms and our first holiday celebrated as a family – with family!
